Thank You

No one wants to work on the holidays, but it is unfortunately some have to. My day job is a 24 hour facility; that requires someone at the phones in case of an emergency. Those who work for any emergency agency like 911 will be able to relate. We are not working on the holidays because we want to; but because we have to.

Every year around this time, it becomes a battlefield at my job between who sent their request for the day off first, who is senior, and so on and so on. This year, once again, I will be working on Thanksgiving. When I reach home after 11:00 pm I will start to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for my family; we will celebrate on Friday.  However, I am grateful that at least I get to come home at some point and spend time with my family.

I want to take the time to thank the men and women who sacrifice being with their families to make sure that all families is safe; firefighters, police officers, 911 dispatchers, troopers etc. Thank you.
